Spotify's 'Premium Family Plan' is now family friendly.
I do have some good news as Spotify is testing the Explicit Content filter for Android and iOS users (you can read about this test here). Meanwhile I suggest giving upvotes and leaving feedback on the Explicit Button idea. However, Spotify is rolling out a family-focused feature to users in Ireland that allows the master account holder to set a filter for explicit content. Basically, this will give parents the option to filter out content that has been flagged by Spotify as explicit, with the option (to turn the filter. It applies only for the individual account and device. For example, if you apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. To answer just your first question (we have renamed the thread to reflect this): currently the explicit content filter is only available on mobile and tablet versions of Spotify. If you would like for it to be implemented on the desktop app as well, you can head here and vote for the idea.
The company announced on Monday that it's adding an 'Explicit Content Filter' to the family plan, enabling parents to prevent their kids from listening to songs with bad words and adult situations
Amazingly, this wasn't an option before, even though the Family Plan has been available for years. Now to hear swear words, your kids will have to go, well, just about anywhere else on the internet.
You can find clean songs on Spotify by searching for them, or by changing your settings to filter out explicit content. Open the Spotify desktop app on your Mac or PC.
Spotify is adding a few other options to the Premium Family Plan, as well, including the 'Family Mix,' which the company describes as 'a personalized playlist packed with songs the whole family enjoys.' So, 100 Billy Joel songs? Got it!
